GMSK Repeater Progress

Hello to the group,

Just want to give an update on the home brew GMSK digital repeater.

I am getting closer to the operations of the digital repeater. I have been running a lot of test to set the configuration up for the GMSK modem.  With the new setting we got audio to come a cross the D-Star radio from the repeater.  The audio is not quite ready for prime time but it’s a start. It looks like  I need to condition the audio TX line to bring the audio to a  level that is understandable. Right now I’m getting the R2D2 sound and on some occasion you can hear legible audio.

If anybody out there has a D-Star radio [in the Madison / Huntsville area], tune to UHF repeater 443.025+ offset and tell me what you hear if you can. You can send e-mail by way to the group e-mail.

I’ve also pick up a HP server in to serve as a home-brew ICOM-compatible G2 Gateway. The program is called dstar_g2_gwy.  Here is where the Linux guru come in and install and configure the dstar _g2_gwy.  As soon I get the GMSK repeater working fully, I will then turn to install CentOS 5.3 to run the Gateway.

The two photos below are of the new GMSK Modems that will act like a digital repeater controller. They are able to pass D-STAR signals. These two cards will enable the local repeater to connect to other internet based DSTAR Gateways and reflectors. Will W4WWM is in the process of programming the PIC Chip with new Firmware.
